Carlo Robelli D-120 Manhattan (Plus Charlie Christian Pickup & New Hardshell Case)

This is a nicely upgraded, lightly played Carlo Robelli D-120 Manhattan in very good condition. It is made at the Peerless shop in Korea to the same specs as the Peerless Monarch, except that it has a solid pressed spruce top rather than a hand-carved one. It shares the same Maple back and sides and also sports Grover Imperial tuners. It has a bound neck and f-holes, a Rosewood tailpiece, gold hardware, and an immaculate tobacco burst. I have further upgraded the guitar with a Vintage Vibe Suspended Charlie Christian CC Rider Pickup – making it the equal of a lot of pro level jazz guitars.

One of the nicest aspects of this guitar – and the most surprising – is how good it sounds acoustically. Better by far than anything in its price range, and superior to a number of hand carved models too, in my opinion.

It has been given a professional set up so that all the little buzzes and kinks that came with the original have been tweaked out. I got rid of the original padded gigbag and upgraded to a very nice hardshell case – like this guitar deserves. I want to point out the only rough spot on the guitar is a tiny bit of finish separation where the neck attaches to the body on the right side (when facing the guitar). It does not effect the stability of the neck or the playability of the guitar in any way (see picture).

Aside from this minor cosmetic issue, this Jazz guitar is in great shape and it sells for less than half the price of the Peerless Monarch. With the addition of the Vintage Vibe Suspended Charlie Christian CC Rider Pickup and a hard case it is a phenomenal guitar for the money.
